Unwind with a glass of your favorite wine at the end of an exhausting day. According to a number of studies, wine is good for you if you drink it in moderation and as part of a healthy diet. Wine has phytochemicals (flavonoids and resveratrol) that prevent free-radical molecules from damaging your body’s cells. Researchers have shown that drinking dry wine reduces the risk of getting certain cancers as well as heart disease; it also slows the progression of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s dis- eases. For women, one five-ounce glass per day is good, while men should drink no more than two five-ounce glasses—more than that, and wine does not offer health benefits.
